Setup
- In the Dexcom app on your phone, open Settings → Share and turn Share on.
- Add at least one follower. Share only uploads to Dexcom's servers while you are actively sharing, so with zero followers there is nothing to read. You can follow yourself from a second phone with the Dexcom Follow app.
- Install GGlance from the Connect IQ Store and add it as a glance or widget.
- In Garmin Connect, open the GGlance settings and choose Dexcom as your source.
- Enter the login of the person wearing the sensor: the same email, username or phone number and password used in the Dexcom app that publishes the readings.
- Open the glance. The first sign-in takes a moment, then readings refresh on their own.
G7 specifics
- Warm-up is much shorter than the G6, so a new sensor shows on the wrist sooner.
- The 12-hour grace period at the end of a session behaves the same as it does in the Dexcom app: as long as Share is publishing, GGlance shows what it publishes.
- Direct-to-watch on other brands is a separate feature. GGlance does not use it, and does not need to: it reads from Share, which is what makes the same setup work across Garmin models.
If nothing appears
Start with Dexcom rather than the watch. Open the Dexcom app and check that Share is on and that you have a follower. Without a follower, Dexcom publishes nothing, and the sign-in looks like a credentials problem when it is not.
The Share setup guide covers this in detail, including the confusing case where the password is correct but the account looks empty.
Common questions
- Is the G7 fresher on the watch than the G6?
- Slightly, mostly because of the shorter warm-up and a quicker start. Once running, both arrive on the same path, so the delay is similar.
- Do I need to re-enter anything when a G7 sensor expires?
- No. Your Dexcom login stays the same, so the watch resumes once the next sensor is publishing.
