Why a follower account at all
Abbott does not publish an interface that lets an app read your own readings on your behalf. What it does publish is LibreLinkUp, the service that lets a parent, partner or coach follow someone else's values.
So GGlance follows you. You invite a follower account from LibreLink, and GGlance signs in as that follower to read what you chose to share. Every third-party tool in this space works the same way.
Creating it
- Install the LibreLinkUp app on any phone, or use a second account on your own phone.
- Sign up with an email address you control. A dedicated address kept just for this is a good idea, and keeps it separate from your main Abbott login.
- In LibreLink on the phone running your sensor, open Connected apps, turn on LibreLinkUp, and send an invitation to that email.
- Accept the invitation in LibreLinkUp, and confirm a glucose value appears there.
- Enter that email and password in the GGlance settings in Garmin Connect.
If it does not connect
- Check LibreLinkUp itself first. If the follower app shows no value, the problem is upstream of GGlance and no watch setting will fix it.
- Confirm you accepted the invitation. An invitation that was sent but never accepted looks like a working account and shares nothing.
- Use the follower's password, not your LibreLink one, if the two accounts happen to share an email.
- Check LibreLink is still uploading. A phone that has been offline, or an app that was force-closed, stops the whole chain.

Common questions
- Which account do I enter, and how are the credentials used?
- They are sent to Abbott's LibreLinkUp service to sign in, and are used only to fetch your readings. Nothing is stored: the values pass through to your watch and are not kept. A dedicated follower account also limits what those credentials can reach.
- Can several people follow the same sensor?
- Yes. LibreLinkUp is designed for that, so a follower for GGlance can sit alongside a family member who follows you too.
